About the Juror

Laura Wertheim Joseph is Director of Curatorial Affairs at the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum in Santa Fe. Previously, she served as curator and director of exhibitions at the Minnesota Museum of American Art in St. Paul. She specializes in modern and contemporary art, with a focus on gender and performance studies and theories of affect and empathy in art. Her work is driven by a commitment to celebrating undervalued sources of wisdom, underrecognized creative practices, and overlooked perspectives on cultural production. Her projects include exhibitions and publications on Sandra Menefee Taylor at the Plains Art Museum, Charlotte Moorman at Northwestern University's Block Museum, Harriet Bart at the Weisman Art Museum, and Hazel Belvo at the M. She holds a PhD in art history from the University of Minnesota.
